florals

we have a family show opening at Arbutus Arts on friday - 1 family, 3 generations, 4 mediums, 5 artists. My mom & my brother are painters (steven armstrong, victoria, bc & elspeth armstrong, hornby island, bc), my sister is a fabric artist (linda armstrong, hornby island, bc) & my nephew is a multi-media abstract artist (jordan mckibben, hornby island, bc). And then there's me, the photographer. So we're all hanging an eclectic show together which will be up for the next 2 weeks for any of you coming to the island for a holiday or visit or for those of you living locally. These are a sampling of what i'll be showing. Being the last minute girl that i am, they have yet to find their way into frames. But i still have tomorrow to work on them (in between photo jobs) so i might even make it to bed tomorrow night. Everything in it's time... (& when it's summer here, it's mostly rush hour for little me)... busy, busy, busy...

& a big thank you to alex & dale for the gorgeous bouquet that just called out to me & my lens baby... "come, now... take pictures of us... we're so darn pretty... & there's lots of time for all that other stuff... come, now..." (well, something like that, or so it seemed, at the time)

jennifer & frank

jennifer & frank were on hornby for the weekend looking for the perfect venue for their 2010 wedding. It was a gorgeous west coast weekend & we got together late in the afternoon to do an engagement session. It was HOT! So we started off in the shade of the forest & some huge maple trees, & then headed to the waterfront & the shade of a perfect arbutus grove. It never ceases to amaze me just how beautiful it is here! And jennifer & frank fit right in... laid back, easy going & fun. The initial shyness in front of the lens faded into sillyness & their very sweet & deep connection with one another shone through. Here's a taste from our afternoon...

are you kidding me??? Look at those eyes! No wonder frank's spent every weekend with jennifer since he met her & first asked her to dance...
